William J. Gibson, of Elkins Park, PA passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 at his residence. He was 82 years old. Bill, as he was known affectionately by his family and friends, was born on March 22, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Calhoun Gibson, Sr. and the late Martha Ann (née Anderson) Gibson. Bill served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and while stationed in Texas, met the love of his life, his wife Jacqueline L. (née Hodges) Gibson with whom he is survived by. He worked most recently as a Security Office for Temple University. In his free time, he enjoyed horse racing and following the Pennsylvania Lottery. Bill will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a "people person" who was friendly and kind to everyone and could make anyone laugh even in the worst situation. He will also be remembered for his work ethic which he instilled in his family.

Along with his wife Jacqueline, Bill is survived by his daughter Bernadette Y. Gibson and his son James F. Gibson. He was predeceased by his daughter Venita D. Neely and her husband Edward. Bill is also survived by his grandchildren: Demetrius Gibson and his wife Heather, Nadiym Gibson, Tariq Gibson, Bahree Gibson, Zariyah Gibson, Mercedes Gayles, Alexus Gayles, Giavonah Hayes, Ashley Smith, Asia Gayles, his great grandchildren: Jazzmine Acevedo, Autumn Gibson, and his siblings: Virginia Akins, Barbara Clement, Brenda Rocha, Beverly Washington, Zora McClendan, and Janice Gibson. He was predeceased by his brother Calhoun Gibson, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to Bill's Life Celebration on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Craft-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 1801 Old York Rd. Abington, PA 19001. Interment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. The service will be livestreamed on the Craft-Givnish Life Celebration Home facebook page at 11:00 a.m. and the graveside service will be livestreamed at an estimated time of 12:30 p.m. Both portions of the livestreamed services can be rewatched on the facebook page for those not able to attend the services at the time of the livestreaming. Contributions in memory of Bill may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
