Frank B. Schaffner, Sr., 93, of Coudersport, PA died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport, PA.
Born on May 11, 1920 in Palmyra, PA he was the son of Frank Henry and Nora Reese Schaffner. He graduated in 1937 from Palmyra High School. On December 14, 1985, he married his second wife, Vera Sullivan Schaffner.
He had worked before and after his military service as a quarry foreman at Millards Quarry/Bethlehem Steel Corp. until his retirement. He served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army both during WW II. He was an Elder of the Gospel Tabernacle in Coudesport, PA, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Frank is survived by his wife, daughter Patricia Ann Miller of Annville, PA, sons, Frank B. Schaffner, Jr.,and his wife Sherry of Lebanon, PA and C. Andrew Schaffner of West Haven, UT, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dorothy Ruhl Schaffner, brother, John Schaffner, and sister Emma Taylor.
Friends are invited to Frank's Life Celebration on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 1:00pm with the Rev. David Minor, Sr. officiating. A graveside service will be held at the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, PA Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 1pm, burial to follow.
