Obituary for Anari Grace Tester

October 9, 2021
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

My daughter, Anari Tester had a congenital heart defect from birth. She had her first open heart surgery at 10 days old. Cath procedures in between and lots of specialized doctor visits with close monitoring. Her second open heart surgery was at three months old. She had lots of Cath procedures in between and doctor visits but this one had gotten her all the way until she was five years old. About two months after her fifth birthday, she had her third open heart surgery. The surgery seemed to be fine but the surgeon accidentally cut the right coronary artery and repaired it but it did not hold and Anari went into heart failure. She was then put back into the hospital. She was in Omaha Children's Hospital awaiting a new heart when we were told we would have to go to "CHOP" Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she had an LVAD surgery. The Surgery went well but her liver, kidneys and lungs took a tremendous hit and she was recovering for eight weeks. We were waiting for her kidneys to recover to get her put on the transplant list. She was slowly but surely making moves towards the right direction. This was taking a lot of time and putting stress on all of us. We had to uproot our family to Philadelphia to be with Anari until she recovered from the heart transplant. Unfortunately, infections had taken over and her body could no longer hold on. The infections were too strong and she was unable to recover. Anari Grace Tester passed away Saturday morning October 9, 2021. She was born December 4, 2015. She was the most remarkable child that I have ever met, the strongest little being, she held on until the end. Anari had faith, she made everyone smile and she had a smile on her face until the very day she took her last breath. I'm so glad to have been her mommy for her life here on earth.

Anari was just like all other five years when she wasn't dealing with health issues. Anari like doing anything as long as I was doing it with her, We did bubbles, sidewalk chalk, bike riding, swimming, playing in the sandbox, sand art, coloring, painting, swinging on the saucer swing in the front yard. She also enjoyed chasing around all the little kids in the neighborhood, going to movies, having sleepovers, Friday night movie night and most of all she loved having family time with all of us. Together with myself "mommy", Crystal Tester, daddy, Rodrick Lillard, siblings, Dillon Tester, Alexis Beazley, Kionna Tester, grandma, Alicia Wolf, grandpa, Bob Ross, god mother, Lachar Perkins. We would get together to make s'mores in the backyard around the fire pit.

Anari will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit will live on in each one of us.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Life Celebration service on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Lifegate Church 15555 W Dodge Rd, Omaha, NE 68154 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
